Photo culling for Mac

Find the keepers in a 2,000-photo shoot, fast.

Snap Select shows you which faces are in focus, groups the near-identical frames, and lets you pick with a single key. When you're done, send the picks to your client in a private gallery.

Culling is free, with no photo limit RAW and JPEG Apple silicon Macs

Features

The slow parts of culling, handled.

Most of a cull is checking focus and choosing between frames that look the same. Snap Select does the checking so you only make the decisions.

See which faces are sharp without zooming

Every face gets a box coloured by how well it is focused: green, amber or red. Click a box to jump to that face at full size, or open the faces window on a second display to see all of them at once.

Similar frames, already grouped

Bursts and repeated poses are grouped together, so you choose the best of each set and jump straight to the next one. If a group is wrong, merge or split it with one key.

Your hands stay on the keyboard

Move, pick, rate, reject and zoom without touching the mouse, and change any key to suit you. Picks are copied to your export folder in the background while you keep going.

Check exposure at a glance

A live histogram and the shot's EXIF data sit beside every photo. Press E to highlight blown-out areas.

RAW and JPEG together

Opens RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and others (CR2, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG and more). A RAW and JPEG pair counts as one photo.

Your photos stay on your Mac

Culling and face recognition run on your computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share picks with a client.

Client galleries

Let clients choose their favourites, without the back-and-forth.

Upload your picks from the app and get a link to send. Your client marks what they want, and you get those exact files back.

  • A link and a password. Each gallery has its own 8-character password. Clients don't need an account.
  • Browse by person. Clients can filter the gallery to the photos a particular person is in, and zoom into any photo on phone or desktop.
  • Their selection comes back to you. When a client saves their selection, the app copies the matching originals into a folder on your Mac.

How it works

From memory card to client link in three steps.

1

Open a folder

Point Snap Select at your shoot. It loads previews, finds faces and groups similar frames while you start looking.

2

Pick the keepers

Go through the shoot with the keyboard. Focus boxes tell you which frames are worth a closer look, and groups keep the near-duplicates together.

3

Export or share

Your picks are copied to a folder, ready for editing. Press U to upload them to a client gallery as well.

Pricing

Culling is free. You only use credits to share.

FAQ

Questions photographers ask

Which Macs does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). There is no Windows or Intel version yet.

Which file types can it open?

JPEG and PNG, plus RAW files including CR2, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW and DNG. Canon CR3, HEIC and video files are not supported yet.

How large a shoot can I open?

Up to 2,000 photos in one folder. For a bigger shoot, split it across folders and cull them one at a time.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

Not while you cull. Loading, face detection and grouping all happen on your Mac. Photos are uploaded only if you choose to share picks in a client gallery, and they are resized first (1920 px on the long edge by default).

Do I need an account?

Not for culling. You sign in with Google only when you want to share a client gallery, which is also how your credits are tracked. Your clients never need an account, only the link and password you send them.

Does it change my original files?

No. Picks are copied to the export folder you choose, and the originals are left where they are.
